Remembering a Life Well Lived

It is with a heavy heart that I share Tony Luparello, co-founder of North Carolina Adapted Sports and dear friend, passed away Friday, July 19th.

Tony was the driving force that encouraged me to move forward in the creation of NC Adapted Sports. He kept me in check, opened my eyes to our success when I could not see it, and lived to make an impact on the lives of others with a physical disability.

 A few weeks back, he was demonstrating how to tackle a cross slope for a new athlete. The image in my head of him effortlessly taking on this obstacle, seizing the moment, and enjoying life will be one of my fondest memories.

 It is a lot to process that our weekly meetings will be no more, though I know he is pain-free and crushing some mountain cycle trails in heaven.
